Author's note
Dr.Benway font by Mike Larson [Mr.Fisk] is a free eroded display typeface that looks like it’s been dragged through ink, scraped, and stapled back together. Thick, blocky shapes are chewed away by bold holes and splatters, giving every word a distressed, bootleg-poster feel. The rhythm is uneven and slightly chaotic, so your titles feel raw, noisy, and a little dangerous, like they were pulled from a photocopied zine or a basement gig flyer.
Using Dr.Benway, you can push that gritty energy into horror movie titles, punk or metal gig posters, underground zines, dystopian game logos, protest graphics, and edgy streetwear branding. This free font works best at large sizes where the rough texture can really shout from the page. For body copy, pair it with a clean, narrow sans serif and let Dr.Benway handle the loud, attention-grabbing headlines.
