Author's note

Jempol font by James Paul Fajardo is a free handwritten typeface with a wonderfully scratchy, inky texture that feels like it was pulled straight from the margin of a well‑worn notebook. Its tall, slender letters and uneven strokes give every word a slightly eerie, storybook quality—somewhere between casual note and mystical script. The rough edges keep it organic and human, never too polished or stiff.

Using Jempol, text instantly picks up a moody, hand-crafted character that shines on book covers, zines, poster titles, band merch, fantasy game graphics, and moody social graphics. This free font works best at larger sizes, where the grainy contours can really show, and pairs nicely with a clean geometric sans for body copy to balance its quirky energy.
