Author's note

04b20 by Yuji Oshimoÿo is a free bitmap display font built from heavy square pixels. Its letters have broad block forms, sharp right angles, and compact rectangular openings, with little softness or visual noise. The rigid grid gives every shape the direct look of an early digital display.

Game interfaces are its clearest fit, especially score screens and arcade-style menus that benefit from blunt, machine-made lettering. The electronic reference is immediately recognizable. The same forms also suit music merchandise and event graphics, and in technology branding the pixel grid can become a product mark modeled on a display panel or arcade cabinet.
