Author's note

04b31, designed by Yuji Oshimoto, is a free pixel font built from stark rectangular modules and strict right angles. Its broad, low letterforms use open gaps and stepped joins, giving the lettering the look of an early electronic display or compact arcade interface.

Technology and retro gaming are its clearest territory, making it suitable for game menus, electronic music artwork, and digital event posters. On merchandise or screen graphics, the block construction can become part of a larger interface motif, linking labels with grids, status bars, simple low-resolution icons, and other pixel-based elements rather than behaving like neutral text.
