Author's note

Ace Crikey font by James Shields is a free comic display typeface with a wonderfully wobbly, ink-splotched energy. Each letter feels hand-squeezed from a marker, with chunky strokes that swell and taper in unexpected places, giving words a bouncy, slightly mischievous rhythm. It reads like something scrawled in the margins of a sketchbook-loose, friendly, and full of motion.

Using Ace Crikey, bold titles jump off the page, making it a natural fit for kids’ book covers, comic panels, birthday invitations, playful branding, posters, and game or app titles. This free font works best when set large, letting its bulbous curves and quirky silhouettes really show. Try pairing Ace Crikey with a clean, neutral sans serif for body text to keep the fun headline energy grounded and readable.

This font is influenced by a series of Science Fictions short stories by Michael Carroll (http://www.iol.ie/~carrollm). There is a character called Ace Crikey who is a bit, well, weird. This font seemed to suit him.
