Acuate, designed by Carlos Perez, is a free angular display font with a stark, hand-cut look. Its letters use uneven tapered strokes, sharp bends, and narrow openings that resemble marks scratched or carved with crude tools.
Horror, dark fantasy, and underground music provide the clearest setting for these restless forms. They suit film posters, album artwork, game graphics, and merchandise, especially when lettering echoes claws, splinters, or ritual marks.
