Akbar font by Jon Bernhardt is a free handwritten typeface with the bounce and swagger of a thick marker pen. Its rounded strokes wobble just enough to feel human, while the tall, narrow forms keep words readable even in longer lines. Letters look inked in one confident sweep, giving text a friendly, slightly mischievous energy that feels straight out of a comic panel or doodled notebook margin.
Using Akbar, you can give comics, zines, posters, kids’ book titles, YouTube thumbnails, classroom materials, and informal branding a lively, hand-done voice. This free font shines when set large, where its chunky curves and uneven rhythm really pop; pair it with a clean sans serif for body copy to keep layouts playful but still organized.
