Author's note

Aldo Open by Jonathan Hill is a free geometric display font built from massive shapes and narrow cutaway strokes. Round letters resemble discs split by very slim vertical gaps, and angular forms use sharp wedges with dramatic changes in stroke width. The result is stark and architectural.

It is most convincing in poster lettering, where the cropped, near-abstract forms can become part of the graphic image. Album covers and fashion branding also suit its severe geometry, especially when a design draws on modernist or space-age references. Its clearest audience is designers working in music, arts publishing, and experimental cultural events.
