Ampul by Dan Evans of FontStruct is a free retro serif display font with broad, dark strokes and softly flared ends. Its rounded joins and compact lowercase forms give the lettering a friendly 1970s flavor, though the uneven stroke widths keep it from feeling slick or geometric.
Album covers are its most convincing setting, especially for folk, soul, or indie releases with period-minded artwork. It also suits cafe packaging and event posters. In branding, the plump curves can turn a name into a product mark rather than neutral lettering.
