Anchor Steam by Nick Curtis is a free retro display font with a strong turn-of-the-century poster feel. Its letters mix a huge, weighty opening curve with slim verticals and compact rounded forms, giving the font an offbeat rhythm that feels theatrical rather than merely old-fashioned.
That quirky vintage voice suits beer labels, cafe branding, event posters, cover lines, and title cards where a little period flavor goes a long way. As a free font, it also makes sense for logos, drop caps, and short packaging callouts, because the contrast between broad shapes and narrow strokes gives even a few letters plenty of character.
