Author's note

Athena Unicode, designed by Jeffrey Rusten, is a free classical serif with the calm, bookish tone of old-style scholarly printing. The letters pair fine hairlines with sharper, tapering strokes, giving the font a distinctly Hellenic, humanist feel that looks formal without turning stiff.

It makes sense for academic covers, museum graphics, literary mastheads, essay titles, and quotation pages where a free font needs an air of learned tradition. Because the forms feel refined rather than ornamental, Athena Unicode also suits chapter openings, cultural programs, and short editorial headings that want a measured classical voice.
