Author's note

Baldo Italic by Diego Arturo Olaya Cortes is a free calligraphic script with a lively, theatrical silhouette. Broad, swelling strokes narrow abruptly into sharp joins and hooked endings, giving the letters a cut-paper crispness despite their flowing movement. The capitals are especially dramatic, with pointed peaks and deep curves that recall expressive sign painting.

Designers working in food, hospitality, or performance can use its spirited forms for restaurant branding, festival posters, and album packaging. On menus and specialty drink labels, the changing stroke widths can echo hand-rendered illustration, while the emphatic capitals give a brand name the recognizable shape of a custom-painted sign.
