Barock Initialen by Dieter Steffmann of Typographer Mediengestaltung is a free illustrated initial font with an antique woodcut manner. Each framed capital combines dense engraved strokes with winding foliage and small human or animal figures threaded through the design.
Historical book covers and fantasy game graphics can both use its carved, storybook imagery. It also suits theatrical posters and period invitations. Its most convincing role is as an opening capital that becomes part of the illustration.
