Author's note

Bastion, designed by David F. Nalle of Scriptorium Fonts, is a free old school display font with the chunky, buoyant shapes of 1970s cartoon lettering. Its broad letters swell through soft curves, pinched joins, and lumpy serifs. Its overall silhouette stays cheerfully uneven.

Rounded illustrations and hand-drawn patterns can echo those inflated forms, making the face useful for children's book covers, snack packaging, and comedy posters. Its silliness also suits family entertainment and retro merchandise for audiences who enjoy nostalgia.
