Beccaria font by S. John Ross is a free eroded display font with the look of ink that’s been scraped, stamped, and weathered by time. Its chunky serif shapes stay readable even as the edges break apart, giving headlines a gritty pulse that feels part old letterpress, part evidence pulled from a dusty file.
Using Beccaria works beautifully for pulp book covers, horror posters, zine mastheads, distressed logos, album art, escape-room graphics, and moody packaging. This free font has enough weight to hold up at larger sizes; pair it with a plain sans serif for body copy so the torn, inky texture gets space to do its thing.
