Author's note

Ben Brown font by Lauren C. Brown is a free handwritten typeface with the loose, inky energy of a thick marker on notebook paper. Tall, tapering caps bump up against soft, rounded lowercase forms, giving every word a casual, off-the-cuff feel that still reads clearly at a glance. The slight wobble in the strokes keeps it human and friendly, like a quick note passed between friends.

Using Ben Brown, you can bring that relaxed, personal voice to journal titles, comic dialogue, kids’ worksheets, quote graphics, social posts, and playful brand tags. This free font shines when used big and bold, where its chunky shapes and irregular rhythm can really show. For balance, pair it with a very simple sans-serif for body copy so the handwritten style stays the star.
