Author's note

Benevento font by David F. Nalle is a free retro serif font. It has that inky, storybook swagger-chunky strokes, sharp little spurs, and soft, swelling curves that make the wordmark feel carved from an old sign or pressed into paper. The rhythm is lively and a bit mischievous, so even short headlines come out with instant character.

Using Benevento, you’ll get punchy results on posters, book covers, vintage logos, craft-beverage labels, event flyers, podcast artwork, and storefront signage. This free font likes room to breathe, so set it a touch larger and don’t cram the spacing. Pair it with a clean, low-drama sans for subheads to keep the retro flair from getting too loud.
