Author's note

Benthem Bold is a free retro display font with towering proportions and dramatic thick-thin contrast. Its elegant forms recall fashion mastheads, but solid black sections cut through selected letters with a more graphic, experimental edge. The effect is sharp and theatrical.

It can turn a fashion wordmark into an image rather than a neutral label. Album covers and event posters also suit its mix of refinement and disruption. In editorial design, black shapes can echo photography or geometric artwork.
