Black Metal by Alexander Sperl of FontStruct is a free blackletter font with an especially severe medieval profile. Tall blade-like strokes, abrupt thick-to-thin changes, and pointed diamond joints give the letters a dense, spiked silhouette.
Music merchandise is its most immediate medium, with the jagged forms fitting album graphics and band branding. It also suits fantasy game titles and horror event posters. The repeating spear points and black masses directly echo weapons, armor, and thorn imagery in dark genre-driven graphics.
