Author's note

Black North by HansCo Studio is a free medieval Gothic font with a sharp blackletter voice and a hard, carved rhythm. The letters lean on tall vertical strokes, clipped angles, and diamond-like points, giving the font a dense old-world texture that feels closer to manuscript signage than polite revivalism.

It suits poster headlines, book covers, music branding, pub menus, and title cards where a free font needs a dark historical mood without turning ornamental. Use it for short names, dramatic cover lines, or monogram-like initials, because the heavy cadence and pointed joins carry the most character when the wording stays brief.
