Author's note

Boyd Uncial, a free Celtic display font released by William Boyd, blends uncial-inspired letterforms with dramatic thick-to-thin contrast, swelling curves, and fine joining strokes. Sharp beak-like details give the letters a fantastical edge.

Celtic folklore and literary fantasy are its most convincing subjects, especially for illustrated book covers, cultural event posters, and fantasy game branding. The sweeping shapes also suit boutique packaging and atmospheric music artwork, linking these different settings through lettering that feels ceremonial, refined, and slightly uncanny.
