Author's note

BrokenArm by Lisa Essenmacher is a free high-contrast serif font with stately proportions and an unusually brittle edge. Fine hairlines cut abruptly into broad upright strokes and sharp serifs.

For fashion publishing, its tall forms and severe contrast suit mastheads and editorial cover lines. The same theatrical drawing can shift into concert posters and arts-event programs, where delicate details temper the large, dark shapes. It also has a place on fragrance packaging and boutique branding, especially when the lettering is meant to suggest something elegant with a slightly fractured, uneasy streak.
