Author's note

BRP by Rodrigo Araya Salas is a free pictorial dingbat font featuring clear line drawings of faces, flowers, birds, flags, and everyday objects. The loose, uneven contours give every symbol a mural-like immediacy.

As illustrated emblems, these symbols can shape poster campaigns and community event graphics with a direct, handmade voice. Their recurring portraits and civic imagery also suit editorial features, cultural programming, and merchandise centered on collective life or public art. Poster design is its clearest use, since the drawings already read like compact pieces of street illustration.

In 2009, I designed the Brigada Ramona Parra typeface, based on the politically themed murals in Chile created by the Brigada Ramona Parra. The typeface uses thick strokes and flat colors. In 2013, I revisited it with different characteristics, political figures, and new designs while continuing the same graphic style.
