Brush Hand New from K-Type is a free cartoon display font with broad, rounded strokes and a lively hand-painted silhouette. The letters lean and swell at different points, with soft corners and tight joins that keep the line energetic.
Its cheerful comic style is especially apt for children's entertainment, food packaging, and festival posters. The chunky shapes suit mascot-like wordmarks for toy brands or casual games, sharing the buoyant spirit of cartoon illustration.

Brush Hand New is a font based on a copy of Flash Bold called Brush Hand, which WSI marketed in the 1990s and which was later distributed through free-font websites. Brush Hand was an anonymous redrawing of Flash that simplified and slightly lightened the design, smoothed its ragged edges, and improved the legibility of the original created by Edwin W. Shaar in 1939.
K-Type’s New version further refines the simplification. Its outlines were revised, some characters were redrawn, and its letter spacing was adjusted. The old Brush Hand was spaced erratically and too loosely. The expanded character set includes European accented characters.
Brush Hand New is free for personal use only. Information about Commercial and Enterprise Licences is available from K-Type.
