Author's note

Burris font by Daniel Gauthier of GautFonts is a free western slab serif typeface with thick outlines and a textured, almost fingerprint-like fill that feels rugged and tactile. Its blocky letterforms, squared-off serifs, and tight rhythm give every word the presence of a worn wooden sign, without sacrificing readability at headline sizes. Use Burris when you want strong, showy typography that still reads quickly from a distance and holds up in bold layouts.

This free font shines on rodeo posters, bar or saloon branding, vintage product packaging, festival flyers, bold social graphics, and attention-grabbing website headers. The dense texture within each letter adds grit and character, so you don’t need many extra effects to make it stand out. For a balanced look, try pairing Burris with a clean sans serif for body text and keep Burris large so its inner pattern stays crisp and legible.
