Author's note

Byzantium by Charles T. Minow is a free geometric ornament dingbat font built from interlocking bands, stepped corners, and star-shaped floral motifs. The linework has the complexity of carved stone or mosaic borders, with repeated outlines giving each symbol a crisp architectural structure.

Its Byzantine-inspired pattern language suits historical projects and museum publishing, where the symbols can echo architectural ornament. The same tile-like construction can furnish borders and emblems for cultural event posters or specialty packaging. Book covers are its strongest use, since the angular frames and rosettes can function as part of the decoration rather than ordinary lettering.
