Author's note

Cain font by ALan Bauchop is a free modern gothic typeface. Its letters lock together like sharp metal plates, all hard angles and tight corners, giving classic blackletter attitude a bold, geometric twist. The solid, blocky forms create a dense texture that feels heavy and deliberate, as if each word has been carved from a single slab of ink-black stone.

This free font shines on band logos, underground event posters, game titles, streetwear graphics, album covers, and bold merch branding where you need a hard-edged, subcultural feel. Using cain at larger sizes brings out its chiseled geometry; pair it with a clean, neutral sans serif for small supporting text so the gothic shapes stay punchy and readable.
