Calligraphy Unicase, designed in 2007 by Michael Wallner of theTYPEfetish, is a free calligraphic display font with a medieval air. Uneven, sharply cut strokes resemble broad-nib lettering. Tall flourishes and compact forms give the alphabet an animated silhouette.
Fantasy publishing and artisan packaging both benefit from its manuscript texture. It also suits festival posters and game titles with folklore themes. The pointed shapes and wandering letter heights are particularly apt for medieval fantasy settings.
