Author's note

Canterbury by Typographer Mediengestaltung is a free blackletter font rooted in medieval manuscript forms. Broad, sweeping curves meet narrow vertical strokes and sharply cut points in a dramatic, tightly woven, almost architectural silhouette. Strong thick-thin contrast and diamond-shaped details give the lettering the crisp texture of carefully controlled formal pen work.

Publishing is its most convincing setting, especially for historical fiction covers and chapter headings that need an unmistakably old-world voice. It also suits fantasy game graphics, festival posters, and heraldic merchandise. These formal, pointed letterforms will appeal most to designers working with medieval history, Gothic storytelling, or ceremonial themes.
