Author's note

Carmilia by Fernando Carvente is a free medieval blackletter font with an unusually fluid, calligraphic edge. Its narrow letters rise into long, hooked strokes, and sharp joins interrupt the sweeping curves with pronounced thick-thin contrast. The uneven silhouettes feel restless and theatrical.

Dark folklore and haunted romance are its most convincing subjects. That makes it a strong fit for horror posters, metal album covers, and fantasy game titles, where the thorny forms can echo branches, flames, or engraved ornament. On book jackets and merchandise, the lettering can become part of an illustrated crest or border rather than serving as neutral type.
