Author's note

Caslon Bold, a free old-style serif by George Williams, carries the familiar bookish warmth of classic Caslon with soft contrast and a calm, literary tone. The letters feel graceful rather than severe, with bracketed serifs, a generous roundness in the lowercase, and just enough crispness in the joins to keep the texture poised.

It slips easily into editorial mastheads, book covers, cultural posters, museum graphics, and invitation titles, where that historical flavor helps short lines feel settled and human. As a free font, it is especially useful for cover lines, pull quotes, and elegant title settings that want tradition without turning stiff.
