Author's note
Cella, designed by Volker Busse of Volker Busse Berlin, is a free handwritten display font with an amiable, roughly inked look. Its rounded letters have uneven stroke widths and softly wobbling edges, as if drawn quickly with a broad felt-tip pen.
Children's book covers are a convincing home for this informal lettering. The same handmade shapes suit classroom posters, toy packaging, and playful event graphics, especially when the design calls for warmth rather than polish. In publishing, Cella can turn a cover title or section opener into an extension of loose, hand-drawn illustration.
