Author's note

Circles by Nick Hammond Design is a free experimental display font shaped by extremely heavy forms and a rounded geometric silhouette. Broad curves and bulbous joins dominate the lettering, but sharp triangular cuts and narrow interior openings repeatedly break up the mass, producing a lively procession of circles, arches, flattened bars, and sudden angles.

Packaging is an especially convincing medium for these compact shapes, which can turn a snack label or playful product name into a bold graphic emblem and extend into event posters, music graphics, and merchandise. Soft curves and pointed interruptions connect these otherwise different commercial applications.
