Claudius Headline, developed by Paul Koch from written models by Rudolf Koch, is a free blackletter display font rooted in medieval calligraphy. Its broad, dark strokes form compact letters with sharply cut tops and deep interior notches. Curved outer edges soften the otherwise formal, angular construction and give the lettering a carved appearance.
Heraldic emblems and woodcut-style illustration share the font's pointed contours, making it a convincing choice for historical posters, book covers, and fantasy game graphics. The recurring wedge-shaped cuts can echo shields, banners, and architectural ornament in event identities and merchandise.
