Coccinella Two B, created by Tibor Lantos of FontStruct, is a free dot-matrix display font built from a field of pixels. The letters appear as crisp gaps in that dense pattern.
Digital graphics make especially good use of this reversed construction, which can turn interface banners, game screens, and music visuals into patterned surfaces rather than ordinary type. On posters and merchandise, the dots can merge with halftone illustration or grid-based artwork, making the lettering part of the image.
