Author's note

Convalescence font is a free scary display typeface that looks like it’s been scratched onto a wall in the dark. Each letter feels splattered and jagged, with ink-like streaks that drip and flare out, as if the word itself is rotting or mutating. The spacing is tight and claustrophobic, so words clump into unsettling, organic shapes that instantly set a grim, chaotic mood.

Using Convalescence, this free font, you can push horror themes without extra graphics-your titles alone carry the dread. It works beautifully for horror movie posters, metal band logos, Halloween flyers, game titles, grunge album art, and creepy YouTube thumbnails. Set it large so the splatters and spikes stay readable, and pair it with a plain, clean sans serif for body text to keep the layout legible but still unnerving.
