Covington Exp Bold Italic font by Derek Vogelpohl is a free italic serif font from the Covington Exp family. Its wide stance and sweeping slant give every word a polished, old-world glide, while the sturdy weight keeps it from feeling fragile or fussy. There’s a nice tension here: elegant curves up front, solid presence underneath.

Using Covington Exp Bold Italic works beautifully for book covers, wine labels, boutique logos, restaurant menus, magazine mastheads, invitations, and refined poster titles. Keep it fairly large so that its graceful rhythm has room to breathe, and pair this free font with a quiet sans serif for body copy when you want the headline to do the talking.
