Author's note

CSAR Italic from BCD/MFA is a free Russian-style display serif with sweeping italic forms and pronounced calligraphic contrast. Its broad curves end in pointed hooks, and the letters feature dramatic diagonal strokes that recall ornate Cyrillic lettering.

It is well suited to historical posters, book covers, and spirits packaging that call for an imperial or theatrical note. The sharp joins and extended flourishes also make it useful for stage programs and music artwork. Keep the setting spacious so the hooked details do not crowd neighboring letters.
