Author's note

Dark Theater font by Mark Bellaire is a free scary display typeface that looks like it’s been scratched onto a wall with something sharp and then left to bleed. Letters twist and lurch with jagged strokes, ink drips, and smeared curves that feel raw and hand-done, like a frantic note found under a flickering light. The uneven rhythm and heavy black texture instantly throw your layout into horror-movie mode.

Using Dark Theater, you can push titles and logos for horror films, haunted house flyers, Halloween party posters, spooky book covers, escape-room branding, or eerie game menus right to the edge of panic. This free font works best at large sizes where every drip and splatter can breathe; pair it with a simple, narrow sans serif for supporting text so the chaos stays in the headline where it belongs.
