Author's note

Def Writer | BASE Cyr, created by Chuck Davis and Dubina Nikolay of Letterhead Fonts and D-Studio, is a free graffiti display font with broad, sharply bent letters. Its uneven outlines and sliced interior shapes recall quick marker sketches translated into solid graphic forms. The changing angles keep the lettering lively and deliberately rough.

A streetwear poster is its most convincing setting, with the jagged forms supplying an illustrated centerpiece as well as text. The same cut-paper quality suits skate merchandise, music event graphics, and youth-focused game art. On snack packaging or an independent clothing label, the irregular contours can become a recognizable part of the product identity.
