Diminished Nut, created by Jennifer Kawalec of FontStruct, is a free filmstrip dingbat font built from stark geometric blocks and rows of circular perforations. The shapes have a blunt, early-digital simplicity.
Digital graphics are its most convincing medium, especially interfaces and video-channel artwork that can use the symbols as direct references to recorded media. They also suit cinema event posters and entertainment merchandise, where the perforated edges connect immediately with film and projection. The font is strongest when its film-strip motif becomes the actual badge, icon, or framing device.
