Dingbests by Johannes Erler is a free pictogram dingbat font from 1997 that mixes blunt arrows, chunky marks, and a spare standing figure into a dry, sign-like visual language. The icons feel reduced and matter-of-fact rather than playful, with heavy silhouettes and simple geometry giving the set a slightly industrial, wayfinding tone.
It fits poster systems, editorial sidebars, packaging callouts, event graphics, and interface-style labels where a few symbols can do more than extra words. As a free font, it also makes sense for title cards, section breaks, or quick branding accents, especially when you want symbols that feel tougher and less polished than standard UI icon sets.
