Dirty Headline font by S. John Ross is a free, distressed sans serif that looks like it was pulled from weathered posters and beat-up street walls. Chunky, squared forms are riddled with pits and scratches, giving each word a rough, ink-soaked texture that instantly feels loud and urgent. The spacing stays tight and compact, so lines of type hit with a strong, blocky rhythm.
This free font works wherever you need attitude: gig posters, punk or horror covers, protest flyers, hand-made zines, social media graphics, film titles, or gritty packaging. Dirty Headline is most effective in big sizes, and it pairs well with a clean geometric sans used for small supporting text.
