Author's note

DK Northumbria by David Kerkhoff of Hanoded Photography is a free Celtic Gothic display font with broad, hand-cut forms. Its rounded bodies and sharply notched joins recall decorative uncial lettering, with uneven stroke widths keeping the line lively. Tall, hooked details and compact spacing give the alphabet a dense, old-world silhouette.

On book covers, the lettering can establish a convincing Celtic setting before any illustration appears. It also suits folk music posters, heritage festival graphics, and pub signage, where the rough contours complement knotwork, carved motifs, and weathered textures. The font is at its best when the type itself needs to suggest a handmade inscription.
