Author's note
Doulos SIL Compact, designed by Walt Agee, Victor Gaultney, Peter Martin, and Debbi Hosken of SIL International, is a free traditional serif font. Its tall, open letters combine pronounced thick-thin contrast with crisp, gently bracketed serifs and a calm bookish texture.
Language, scholarship, and archival subjects are its clearest territory. It suits dictionaries, academic publishing, and museum interpretation, where the restrained drawing supports serious material without looking severe. The classical proportions also connect these uses to linguistic and historical research.
