Author's note

East Anglia by Bill Roach is a free experimental Gothic display font with severe black shapes, abrupt shifts from broad slabs to needle-thin strokes, and curling pen-like flourishes. Hooked extensions and uneven contours keep the forms visibly restless.

Medieval fantasy and theatrical subjects suit its unruly silhouette, making it useful for game covers, music posters, and event graphics with a darker edge. In packaging and editorial illustration, the curling strokes can echo vines, ironwork, or heraldic ornament, linking these different settings through the same decorative vocabulary.

"East Anglia" is a revival of a Twelth Century manuscript hand that has been expanded and updated for contemporary use as a computer font. It was made from both hand drawn characters - and Public Domain character specimens of genuine medieval hand scribed glyphs. It is designed for both digital desktop publishing, and printed works.
