Author's note

Ezra SIL, a free old-style serif by SIL International with Ralph Hancock and John Hudson, has a calm, bookish tone shaped by bracketed serifs and a gentle contrast between thick and thin strokes. The letters feel classical rather than ornamental, with a slightly calligraphic rhythm that keeps the capitals and lowercase moving together instead of turning stiff.

That makes it a natural choice for editorial mastheads, scholarly covers, cultural programs, museum materials, and literary branding where a free font needs a measured, traditional voice. It also fits short title cards, chapter openings, and drop-in initials, because the serif details give even brief words a settled, text-rooted presence.
