For Winter, created by Paintblack in 2013, is a free eroded decorative display font with an extravagant, old-world silhouette. Tall, dark letterforms sprout looping curls and bulbous flourishes, and their surfaces carry a scratched, chipped texture. The ornament is dense and unruly.
Its theatrical curves suit gothic music posters and fantasy event graphics, but the weathered finish also gives craft beverage packaging a rough, hand-printed edge. For boutique branding and merchandise, the letters can function as an illustrated emblem, turning a name into an ornate product identity.
