Author's note

Francois One by Vernon Adams is a free heavy sans serif with compact, forceful lettering and subtly uneven contours. Its broad strokes, tight joins, and gently slanted cuts keep the shapes lively rather than mechanically square.

The chunky silhouettes echo bold cut-paper graphics, matching flat illustrations and geometric patterns. That connection suits food packaging, festival posters, and music merchandise, where lettering can share the same graphic weight as the artwork. On editorial covers, it can turn a title into part of the image, linking these different uses through its dense shapes and angled details.
