Author's note

Fueled by Schlitz by Nick Polifroni is a free eroded display font with tall, tightly packed capitals. Its broad strokes have ragged edges, scattered nicks, and uneven patches that resemble worn ink. Rounded forms keep the lettering blunt rather than sharp.

The distressed surface connects readily with grainy photography and rough screen-printed illustration. It suits gig posters, beer packaging, and skate merchandise. Its strongest role is in poster lettering, where the compressed shapes and battered print texture can become part of the artwork.

Fueled by Schlitz was originally created in March 2007 for use on my personal website. It has since been made publicly available, and I am working to expand it.

Last updated July 18, 2011.

Added European, mathematical, and Greek characters, the “@” symbol, and revised the quotation mark and cedilla. The next update should include an ampersand.
